Why is Blade Runner so Good?
Blade Runner has emerged from the 80's as a popular film even today. The
primary reason for it's popularity is that it achieves the high standards that
make a science fiction film good. This is not a short accomplishment for the simple
reason that in today's market it is much easier to make a bad science fiction, but
Blade Runner ignored the popular market techniques of big explosions, big names, and
lots of explosions with no plot. Blade Runner embodies the idea of good science
fiction through it's excellent plot, special effects, and acting.

Blade Runner portrays an alternate future from many other harbingers. In past
futures there are happy utopias which comfort audiences in their own existence. The
viewer is given confidence in the way society is being run because the future looks
prosperous not grim, but in Blade Runner there is a technological wasteland that
shows a dark view of the future. The negative view of the future forces the viewer
to think and wonder "Are we as a society doing it right?"
