High Tech Equipment Discussion
To be successful as a science-fiction film, Bladerunner needs to be filled with advanced
technology equipments in order to convince the audience of a futuristic setting.
The following I present two images which contains the picture of high technology equipments used in the film. The first image is an image which contains a picture of a flying car called
Spinners. The second image is an image which contains a picture of a voice-recognition photo-
enhancement equipment called Esper Machine.
Spinners - Car of the future
The setting of the film is the city of Los Angeles in the year of 2019 with
the sky filled not with the airplanes, but with the Spinners. Spinners is a futuristic
car which can fly since it has two jet engines at the bottom of the car. The above image is an image of a Spinner which belong to Los Angeles Police Department. We can be sure that this is a police vehicle
since it contains blue and red light at the top of the car as well as at the bottom of the car.
Spinners is an unusual car for today's society, hence, the present of Spinner in the film can convince the audience of a futuristic settings.
The Esper Machine
This is a photo-enhancement equipment which allows one to examine a photo in details
with limitless capability. A photo is inserted in a slot which located at the top
of a monitor. If we look at the image closely, we can see that there are two lines
perpendicular to each other in the monitor. These two lines indicates that the machine
is in enhancing mode. The film shows that Deckerd inserted a photo which contain a
picture of a women lying on the bed. The image of the women, however, is not very clear.
By using Ester, however, Deckerd is even able to see a tattoo which is on the neck of the
women. We could not found Ester either in our today's society. Hence, the present of
Ester Machine in the film can convince the audience of futuristic settings.
