response to Cathedral
by Lauren.Rackley on Sun, 06/27/2010 - 22:05
I feel that the underlying theme in Cathedral is ignorance. The narrator initially does not tolerate the blind man because he had no experience with the blind. However, the intimate experience that the blind man and the narrator share at the end of the story helps the narrator to understand what it is like to be blind. Ironically, it is the blind man who opens the narrator's eyes and overcome his fear of the unknown.
