Response to Film over Time
The article on the history of film summarizes how new movies take ideas from past ones. Examples such as the Godfather are mentioned. The main point seems to be how movies are not able to withstand the test of time. Social issues such as racism and sexual orientation are discussed; Brokeback Mountain is used as a prime example as it was so controversial that it was denied an Oscar. I agree with this principle that time has a big affect on older movies. What is an even bigger issue is for books to be much older than the movie. By the time the film is produced it is likely that issues in the book are now socially irrelevant. Furthermore, this article is a great example of a web essay from which to base our assignment off of. It has helped me develop my essay in the placement of pictures and videos.
