For this assignment you will begin thinking about the medium of photography.
Identify a photograph that you feel is noteworthy. You may already have a favorite. Or you may know of a photographer whose work you like. Or you may need to spend some time looking around.
You will also need to think about some criteria for what makes a photograph notable--social relevance, aesthetic impact, technical innovation, human drama, etc.
You may also want to explore some of the compositional and artistic elements of photography--search online for sources related to the art of photography, the elements of photography, visual literacy, etc.
Once you have an image in mind, go to the Create Content link and select Image Analysis. Use HTML to embed your image in your posting and then compose a paragraph or so explaining your selection; your criteria and insights into the art of photography can help further your explanation.
Post your selection before class on Wednesday, October 7th.

I admit that I do not look at photography frequently and do not have enough experience with the medium to pick a favorite photograph. I do, however, kno what I like in terms of artwork and for the visual aspect. I love pictures of people because I believe an expression can say so many things. The child in this photo is so beautiful. I think the name of it, "Innocence," is interesting because we can guess the subject matter has to do with Africa and the starvation and war going on there. Clearly it is a time of trial and pain, but a child can be innocent to that. I hope that this child is innocent to it and doesn't have to face such hardships and struggles so early in life.
This photo was in the Center for fine art photography gallery in 2007.
