My video essay is about gang violence and their effects on people. I started off with a sign that says "millions murdered". This set the mood for the rest of my movie. I then showed clips of poor neighborhoods and gangs. I then went on to show drug addicts, guns, and people in jail while inserting in clips of people who have been murdered. To me all of the things I showed in the movie are a direct result from gang activity. To finish off my slide I showed the cross and people in jail praying. I used the song "Ghetto Gospel" by Tupac featuring Elton John because this song is exactly what my topic represents. Tupac lyrics are about how war on the streets needs to be stopped and that there must be peace on earth. This was a good project to do because I learned a lot about the technology aspect of Windows Movie Maker while also thinking about a very large problem in our society and putting together pictures about how I personally feel about it.

Here is my portfolio.

My Playlist

Making a play list was a fun and interesting task for me. The hardest part for me in completing this task was actually finding a theme that I wanted to make a play list to. Once I found the theme of a "relationship cycle", it was pretty easy for me to find songs that could illustrate this. I believe all my songs do a good job of getting to the idea across that each one of them is trying to convey. This task was also fun just going through my music library and finding a bunch of songs that I have forgotten about and listening to them again. These tasks helped me learn how to link and idea that I have in my head together by using pieces of other people's work.

Drunk Man Dancing With Children

Drunken videos shown on websites prove the fact that American people will laugh at anything especially if it is stupid and embarrassing. The new trend in society is to show clips of drunk people doing stupid things and laughing at them. This clip shows an older man stumbleing around on a dance floor while little kids are enjoying themselves as they dance. The kids really do not have an idea of why the guy is dancing like this, however it is easy to assume that everyone else at the party knows that this guy is hammered.

Alfred Hitchcock uses the crane shot in a lot of his scenes. The crane shot is when a camera is filming a scene from high up in the air looking down on the scene. It is usually shot from a crane, hence giving it the name "crane shot". Many different directors uses the craneshot for many different reasons. Alfred Hitchock used the crane shot to make his characters in the scene seem small as if they really are outmatched. In North by Northwest Alfred uses the crane shot when Roger is standing out in the middle of a field waiting for a particular car to drive up and meet him. Many different cars drive past him leaving a huge world wind of dust.

Here is the address to my photo essay. There really is not that much done on it becasue I decided to change topics. I also lost a lot of work because I forgot to save it in class, but for the most part I have the pictures and the idea of what I am going to write about for each picture. I am going to work on it over break to catch up with the rest of the students.

My play list is about the cycle of relationships between people. I came up with this idea by simply searching songs that I have on my computer and realizing that a huge majority is about love and relationships. In this story, a person realizes that they are attracted to another person. The beginning is all about the initial feelings of a relationship. The middle is about how the couple can not be separated. The relationship ends when one person cheats on the other person causing all sorts of bad emotions for the couple ultimately ending the relationship.
