This is my video collage.
I would like to briefly remark on the format of this site and its use for the class. I feel as if to provide any text with one's video collage or other non-text media is to limit the interpretations of that project and the possible gains made for anyone who watches it; analogously, I feel as if any text provided, say, with a poem usually takes away from the poem (unless there is necessary translation or historical information in some cases to go along with it). I would rather see more written, more to d

I have really enjoyed this last project. My views on immigration have been influenced by a Human Geography class that I'm taking this semester, and this vidoe essay expands on some of the issues that we have discussed. I feel like many people oppose illegal immigration because it sounds bad on the surface, but so many people don't realize why Mexican citizens come to the United States. To stop illegal immigration, the United States government must be willing to help Mexico reform their economy. Men and women are crossing the border to earn a better living and send money back to family members in Mexico. This wouldn't be necessary if the Mexican economy was strong enough to support its citizens. Enough about that. This was fun, I'm sad that the semester is over so soon.

My video collage is almost a continuation of my photo essay. In my photo essay I focused on environmental issues. One of those issues was Sustainable Development. In the video collage I took that a step further and decided to take a closer look at agriculture with in sustainable development. Thus the video gives a little introduction on the importance of agriculture, an overview of the purpose of sustainable agriculture, and a few of its goals. I viewed the collage as almost like a mini commercial that was advertising Sustainable agriculture. The most challenging portion for me in this project was to find a song that fit the topic.

My video collage is rather subtle. It is basically showing scenes that truely are glorious and truly are depressing, and contrasting them with what should be the good life (i.e. - the OC clips). While Marissa (who has freaking everthing) is all "woe is me, let me drink and take pills until I OD because I am feeling so sorry for myself," you are getting glipses of true poverty. Also, I included pictures of what I view to be truth and beauty in the midst of poverty. For example, while Marissa is seeing her life as hopeless (let's not get into the fact that she lives in a mansion and every guy is in love with her)and drinking like a fish, the people who truely have it bad are hoisting their burdens on their backs and moving on - or praying and hoping for better days to come.

This is the link to our video collage on World Poverty and Hunger. I believe that poverty and famine is an incredibly destructive problem around the world. Most people in the United States have no idea the amount of people that live in such despair and horrible conditions. Most of us are able to afford basic things that we take for granted such as water and shelter. Recently, I have learned a lot more about poverty and the causes. I wish that this video collage could touch more in depth on the reasons and amount of poverty in the world today.

This is the link to my video collage. Kate and I decided to do the events of 9/11. Although it was easy to find pictures of the events that took place that day, the challenging part was portraying the emotions of the people. We attempted to place the photographs chronologically concluding the video with scenes from memorials. When deciding on the appropriate music to put behind pictures it took a long time to decide on music that was fitting. We wanted to avoid the traditional patriotic songs because we thought that would make our video sound cheesy and portray the wrong emotions.

My video essay is about gang violence and their effects on people. I started off with a sign that says "millions murdered". This set the mood for the rest of my movie. I then showed clips of poor neighborhoods and gangs. I then went on to show drug addicts, guns, and people in jail while inserting in clips of people who have been murdered. To me all of the things I showed in the movie are a direct result from gang activity. To finish off my slide I showed the cross and people in jail praying. I used the song "Ghetto Gospel" by Tupac featuring Elton John because this song is exactly what my topic represents. Tupac lyrics are about how war on the streets needs to be stopped and that there must be peace on earth. This was a good project to do because I learned a lot about the technology aspect of Windows Movie Maker while also thinking about a very large problem in our society and putting together pictures about how I personally feel about it.

One of the major issues in American health and fitness is obesity. Two out of every three adults and three out of every ten children are considered obese by American health standards. The video provides reasons why America has become an unhealthy nation in recent years. After gaining a master's in exercise physiology, I plan on going into research pertaining to exercise and health care. This project gave me an opportunity to get a little practice in my future career. Once again, the class provided a way to gain skills that will be

My Video Collage
My goal for this movie is to display the dangers of nuclear weapons and to show some of the precautions that the world is taking in order to avert a nuclear war. I started out by showing the explosion of the atomic bomb in Hiroshima and then I showed some pictures of nuclear weapons and then I showed the effects that they can have. I also showed how some nations are developing more nuclear weapons and the Non-Proliferation Treaty which was developed in order to stop the proliferation of nuclear weapons. Finally

So after spending several days simply trying to find a topic, I have finally decided to do my video collage on various aspects of the AIDS problem in Africa. Now that I've started, I've realized that it was a far more daunting task to decide the topic than it was to beging creating it. I was stuck on the idea that I should provide a solution for the problem in the video, and couldn't get past this. As soon as I realized that we really needed to produce a video that was touching and provided some insight into our topics, I chose AIDS as it is a topic that has always bothered me. When I started working, the project has seemed really to guide itself.

I am an exercise and sports science major with future aspirations of going into research dealing with pressing issues in exercise and health. One of the most prevalent health issues in America is obesity. I will be doing my video collage on obesity. I will provide some interesting (and sad) statistics of the prevalance of obesity in America and use pictures to demonstrate how people become obese.

Have you all seen the music video for the new Rascal Flatt's song "What Hurts the Most?" It is really interesting...I can't figure out if the girl is just upset that her dad hate's her boyfriend, or if he is mad because she is pregnant. Also, is she sort of dismissing this guy b/c of her father's disapproval or is she just hiding the fact that she is pregnant with his child. Also, OMG the end is sooo sad! Anyway, just wanted to see if anyone else had comments about it.

Since the last assignment i decided to go back to youtube and just look around since i had never used the site before. I think that although the site can be productive since people can share their innovative ideas that rarely happens and these sites are just full of useless crap. For example the one video i just watched was a video blog by these two teenagers Video Blog which is probably the most common type of video on this website. I don't understand why people would post stupid things like this and that the site shoul
