I just finished reading the added resource articles and was particularly intrigued by the article dealing with Jackie Joyner-Kersey. I think that her story and those of the other athletic women of her time are stories of brave women standing up willing to be different. Jackie Joyner- Kersey was a pioneer in women's athletics and helped a lot of young women out when she ran track. No longer did young girls only have gymansts and figure skaters to look up to...especially with those sports placing major emphasis on your appearance.
