Should these high school papers be censored? The example above with the pregnancy
and the cartoon condom clearly show that students are dealing with highly mature
subject matters. Granted they are only high school publications and many students
attending the school may not have the maturity level necessary to comprehend the
story, but that is not the main point. For many of these students this will be
the only newspaper they will hold in their hand. Few read the paper their parents
subscribe to unless forced by an assignment in school and they only watch the
news whenever nothing else interesting is showing. This newspaper is their source
of information that relates directly to them and their concerns. Sometimes
stories like the one above and others will have to be written. They will have to
be told to educate students and tell them what is happening in their world. This
should be the concern of the schools and parents. The students need to hear about
subjects like the ones above now and know the repercussions before doing
something and facing the consequences.<br>
