Create a playlist of at least eight songs that represent the online identity you would like to develop in this course. The songs should be annotated with explanations that help readers understand your choices of songs and with media that extend the ideas--links to song samples, images, etc.
To collect items from the Net and then add your explanations and text, you will need to know a few things:
Making links. You can find song samples in iTunes using their LinkMaker Web site To learn how to make links and insert images into a blog posting, experiment with variations of these tags:
<a href="http://www.apple.com/itunes/linkmaker/">LinkMaker</a>
<img src="http://images.villagevoice.com/issues/0035/winter.jpg"></img>
You can always find out more about composing with HTML by going to a tutorial or searching online.
In addition, you will probably want to learn to work with fonts. You can adjust fonts in a blog posting using tags like <font size=7 color=#663300a>big burgandy text</font> For more and for information about changing the font face, try this tutorial You may also want to know some of the color codes to give the fonts the colors you want.
You can also embed YouTube clips, images, or other materials. I will show you how to compose the links.
Develop a list of songs that fit the presence you want to develop online. Compose your own explanations and use samples from the lyrics or links to materials to weave the songs together into a new creation.
Here are some playlist example to get you started: Billy Budd--a character identity playlist.
Go to the Create Content link, and then select Playlist, and then compose your annotated playlist. You can save and edit your entry as you work. Be careful about saving so you don't lose work. You can also compose using a text editor and paste the text into the playlist field later.
Submit your playlist before class on January 21st.
