I know the blood is a method of contrast, but I almost feel as if the work on the whole would be better without that stark of a difference.  I'd leave the blood in, and I'd keep it with color, but maybe make it a bit transparent to lessen the impact?  Certainly a distinct message, but maybe a bit too literal?

THis is working well. The color is good, in my opinion. I wonder about the blending of images where the cross comes together under the ball. If you experiment with some masking you can try some versions where the arm holding the ball is in front of the faded cross to add depth or try other ways of cleaning up that area.

I agree that the color addition is really good. I like the photo before and now the color gives you another dimension. 

I think both of your collages are good. I think the blood kind of takes away from the black and white. I prefer your first one.

I definitely like the color you've added to the collage.  Now it looks like something straight out of a Frank Miller comic.  I think the message is more subtle now, which probably isn't a bad thing (though your message is still far from ambigious).  I think I like this one better.
