The Beatles Podcast
Submitted by Kelsey Finn on Tue, 09/23/2008 - 02:37The thesis of my podcast is basically the idea that no band can ever live up to the accomplishments of The Beatles. The greatest difficulty I encountered was information overload; there are countless sources that deal with every aspect of The Beatles--but I guess in a way that's actually part of my point. This is definitely a rough draft, but I'm not exactly sure what else I am going to add or take away from it. I know I need to work on some of my transitions and generally just cleaning it up a little.
Well, if we're calling...

Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been?
Submitted by Kelsey Finn on Wed, 09/03/2008 - 12:33I agree with the past two blog posts in that this story is disturbing and scary primarily because it is so realistic. I also agree that I would have put more effort into escaping than Connie did, rather than giving in so easily, but I think a major part of the reason than Connie does not have that ability is that she is so dependent on her beauty. This idea is developed in the beginning of the story through her criticism of her sister and her poor relationship with her mother. This causes her to rely on male attention; even though this last form of male attention is so frightening and threatening, it is still a version of something that she has always found her comfort and even her identity in. I think it is for this reason that she eventually gives in.
