This story was really disturbing, mostly because it seemed very realistic. I can imagine myself or any young girl being put in this situation, and it made me feel sick and helpless. Personally, I don't know that Arnold Friend could have completely manipulated me the way he manipulated Connie. She couldn't make herself lock the door or call the cops and eventually just gave in. Even though she was scared and he threatened her family, I think I would have tried harder to escape if I were her.
