The End of The Yellow Wall-Paper


At the end of the movie of The Yellow Wall-Paper the wife was seen as obsessed with tearing down the wall-paper. She is seen as deranged. In the story the wife is described as calm and very much sane. The husband in the movie is showed as being very dominating and overbearing. He does not want his wife to do anything other than stay in bed. In the story the husband acts the same way. The differences of the husband from the movie and the story is revealed at the ending of both. In the end of the movie the husband was very angry and tries to beat the door down. In the story the husband goes to retrieve the key his wife threw out the window. He calmly opens the door and faints. The husband of the movie was more aggressive than the husband of the story. Even though the wife does come out of her depression in both interpretations in the movie, she still seem sick and in the story she seems at peace with her liberation and free of her illness.
