Rape has become such a predominant factor on college campuses across the country that it can be thought of as a vastly spreading disease with no cure in sight if action is not taken. After facing the fact that the horrible disease of rape and acquaintance rape exists on college campuses and is spreading rapidly, the next step is to find a solution to finally stop the disease from spreading any further. First, campuses must be forced to acknowledge each and every case of rape that is reported. According to an article in Ms. Magazine, a resolution which was proposed in some California universities called for action. "At the victim's request school officials must investigate campus rape cases and conduct disciplinary hearings whether or not criminal charges are filed. Campus rapists will then be punished by suspension or expulsion" (Findlen 73). With this resolution, colleges and universities are forced to acknowledge rape and take action, instead of ignoring the fact that the disease of rape exists on their campus.
