Assignments: Week 9

For today I want you to resubmit a query to a newsgroup. Having gotten this far, you should be in a good position to articulate a sticky issue regarding your topic.

First choose a partner to consult with before sending the query. On your own, begin by reading over my comments and using them as a guide for your query. Next go through the steps for finding and posting to newsgroups from our previous query assignment.

For this query, I'd like you to compose at least two paragraphs. You might open a file in MS WORD or BBEdit to compose the query and keep a copy of it. The first paragraph should summarize the different perspectives on the issue or synthesize the various sources that you have uncovered so far.

The second paragraph should take one of the opposition points that I brought forth in your draft or that you are struggling with and pose it as a problem for the rest of the group.

Before submitting the query, ask your partner to look over it. Keep in mind the make-up of your newsgroup audience and the purpose of your posting. When you and your partner have gotten the query into shape, post it.
