Project 4, Task 4

Today we will review our drafts of the final project. I'll link up some of the drafts below and ask you to browse through each one. If the authors have included a contact function on their drafts please send them messages about their work. You can use the following prompts as guides as you think about the projects.

If the project is persuasive,

Does it clearly map out the direction of the argument initially?

Does it consider opposing viewpoints fully?

What other objections to the project's argument can you raise?

How would you respond to these objections?

If the project is exploratory,

Does it set an inviting tone and draw the reader in?

Does the exploratory project give some sense of the major questions being asked?

Does this sense come early enough in the project to give the discussion meaning?

Finally, is the project clear about the final state of the discussion; are there some conclusions made at the end of the work or is a question for further consideration clearly put forth?

Think about these prompts for your own work and as you look through
  • George Lucas: The Creative Impulse, by: Daniel Christal, John Sumpter, and David Morales

  • THE CHANCE FOR PEACE IN ISRAEL ...and Those Who Challenge It

  • PRICES Brand Names Why Do We Pay? By: Maria Caldwell and Stacey Hellewell

  • Should Jim Bob be allowed in UT?????
  • After you have reviewed the projects, send a message to the rest of the class discussing what you think are the biggest strengths and weaknesses of the projects in general. Mention any specifics that you thought were either good or bad and try to indicate why. Use the form below:

    Your e-mail address:

    Your name:

What do you think are the strengths and weaknesses of the projects?

That's it. You can spend any extra time working on the projects. Good luck and as always, let me know if you have any questions.
