Student Work
The collaborative nature of the web makes it difficult to decide what
qualifies as student work. Are the discussions held on our message forums student work? Are the links that students make
to other sites on the web their work? What about the site itself? It is difficult
to decide. One thing we are trying to do, however, is to produce original
projects using html. These student web projects will make up the bulk of the work
presented here.
Individual web projects about
censorship, the internet and pornography make up our first major offering.
The projects look at recent cyberporn controversies and at issues of free speech
and media regulation.
Students have
been working on the film Bladerunner. They have used multimedia to construct evaluations of the film.
Working in small groups, the class has constructed exploratory research
Projects. The projects cover topics ranging from funding for the arts to
consumer attitudes to rock and roll.
Students have also collaborated on reviews of different web subject areas.
Projects include "arguments" about gun control, reviews of Grateful Dead sites on
the web and information about the 1996 presidential election. Check them out at our web review page.
If you are interested in the course syllabus or the assignments that students followed to construct
the projects, then jump to resources for students.
